WHO: Serious students of performing arts ages 12-18 are invited to study under the following master teachers:
Acting – Jesse Wilson
Jesse Wilson was born and raised in Hollywood, CA , and is a Juilliard BFA graduate in theatre. While living in New York City and Philadelphia, Wilson began writing his autobiographical solo productions that were produced and performed throughout the east coast. Currently, Wilson is performing a solo show for colleges entitled “Face the City” that deals with the pressures of adolescence, and “The Night the Moon Ate My Room!” for very young audiences in support with The Kennedy Center’s Imagination Celebration, Pikes Peak Library District, and Think 360 Arts. Jesse divides his time teaching theatre and music at The Academy for Advanced & Creative Learning, and the Colorado Springs Conservatory. He is also a popular private acting coach for students of all age groups.
Singing -- Jana Lee Ross
Jana Lee Ross has worked for 20 years as a professional freelance pianist, arranger, music director and singer in a variety of venues including jazz combos, theatre productions, large and small choral ensembles, pop bands and classical chamber ensembles. Her extensive education background includes a Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance from the University of Colorado in Boulder, with a minor in Piano Performance and private instruction from Eric Gunnison, Univ. of Denver and Sam Pannunzio at CSU Pueblo. She is a regular performer in the Colorado Springs area as a vocalist and pianist, often with her jazz combo Hidden Agenda. Prior to her move to Colorado Springs in 1996, she worked for many years as an actress and musician in the Denver Metro area appearing in productions at the Denver Civic Theatre, the LIDA Project, Chicken Lips Comedy Theatre and others. She has been featured in several productions with UCCS Theatreworks and is a music instructor at the Colorado Springs Conservatory. Most recently she served as music director for productions with Pueblo County High School, Ormao Dance Company, and Cabaret ModBo.
WHAT: An 8-week workshop with intensive study in acting and singing focusing on music theater career study. Students will present a performance during the last week of the workshop. Curriculum Outline:

1. Improvisation

3. Monologues (traditional, comedic, classic texts, contemporary)
4. Mask work
5. Rudimentary acting skills—the purpose of “Intention”
6. Movement (stage combat, mime, physical expression)
7. Voice and speech
8. Audition techniques
9. Performance of monologues, scenes, musical vignettes
Study areas for Singing Workshop
Exploring these essentials of good theatrical singing
1. Healthy singing technique
2. Finding your own voice -- sounding natural, but BETTER
3. Good physical presentation
4. Integrating movement with song
5. Personalizing your material -- making a song your own
6. Storytelling through song
7. Vocal performance of music theater song selections, solos, small ensembles, musical vignettes
